America: Rushing Across the Threshold of Daniel Eight - Part II

I've written about this subject before and it is now time for an update. America will fall and the time is soon. No, this is not happy news, from one perspective, but it is necessary as part of the process that will bring us into the glorious Kingdom age. For many years the true prophets have brought this testimony to the ears of those who would hear it - and now, the time has drawn nigh. The direct and apparent cause of her fall is not explicitly stated in Daniel 8, but the reason for the fall we can discern from Daniel 8 as it relates to the following verse.

Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling.
Proverbs 16:18

Although the fall is certain and will not be averted, how it affects you personally depends largely upon you. Are you awake and watching? Are you responding with obedience to the promptings of the holy spirit? If you don't take the warnings seriously, you are already in trouble, my friend. If you do take them seriously and fear and anxiety seize upon you, let it then drive you into the arms of our only refuge, the Lord Jesus Christ - while some time yet remains. If you know by the spirit that what I write is true and are at peace about it, you are about to enter into the time for which your heart has been prepared.

The fall of the United States of America from superpower status will obviously impact the whole world. Don't think that if you are outside the USA when trouble visits that it won't affect you - because it will!

The first of two signs prophesied to precede America's fall has happened and the second is now in view. Iran and its president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are going the way of Iraq and Saddam Hussein. If you read the news you know the expectation that America will soon be at war with Iran is high. The Bible instructs us about this upcoming conflict and what will happen to America shortly after the power of Iran's president is broken. If you can let history be your teacher, previous fulfillments of Daniel eight paint a vivid picture that speaks loudly. If you have not yet read Part I please take this opportunity to do so.

The key events describing our present situation are set forth in verses 7 and 8. The symbols of the ram and goat are made more plain in verses 20-21.

7 I saw him come beside the ram, and he was enraged at him; and he struck the ram and shattered his two horns, and the ram had no strength to withstand him. So he hurled him to the ground and trampled on him, and there was none to rescue the ram from his power. 8 Then the male goat magnified himself exceedingly. But as soon as he was mighty, the large horn was broken; and in its place there came up four conspicuous horns toward the four winds of heaven.
Daniel 8:7-8
20 The ram which you saw with the two horns represents the kings of Media and Persia. 21 The shaggy goat represents the kingdom of Greece, and the large horn that is between his eyes is the first king.
Daniel 8:20-21

The shaggy goat that was Greece is now the USA, and the large horn between his eyes that was Alexander the Great is now George W. Bush. The "ram's horn Kings" of "Media and Persia" are now Saddam Hussein and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Note that the timing of the breaking is given in the NASB as "as soon as he was mighty." This follows after the striking of the ram and the shattering of his two horns. According to the Young's Literal Translation, verse 8 reads:

And the young he-goat hath exerted itself very much, and when it is strong, broken hath been the great horn; and come up doth a vision of four in its place, at the four winds of the heavens
Daniel 8:8

Given that patriotic Americans were displaying more flags more prominently than I'd ever seen before in the time immediately following the shattering of the first of the two rams's horns, it seems to me that the mightiness associated with the timing of the goat's horn breaking is a view of the pride that goes before the upcoming fall (Proverbs 16:18) as indicated by the language of the NASB.

This will be a sign to you, who continue to take the wait-and-see approach - provided you survive it! Do you think I'm being overly dramatic? We'll see about that.

Note that the agent or agencies responsible for breaking the large horn and the manner of its breaking are not specified. You should know from reading Daniel 8 that it is not merely the horn that is affected but the power of the goat. According to the words of the prophets and the expectations of many watchful saints, America's fall from power will be due to a number of factors including what had been commonly known until recently as "acts of God" and beyond these, nuclear strikes by her enemies on major cities. Referring to the disasters that occur by natural means by something less offensive to the ignorant makes them no less the acts of God they are in truth, as judgment is poured out according to His loving purposes. According to the pattern of Alexander the Great, Alexander's and thereby Greece's fall from power was not due to conquering military forces but rather from Alexander's death. It was from a "mysterious illness in the palace of Nebuchadrezzar II of Babylon" that he died. The connections here to the present day shaggy goat are, of course, no coincidence. (See The Ironic Battle of the Babylons)

Why must judgment soon be visited upon America, you may ask? Because the church in America as a corporate body has been given much privilege and gifting, but fails to respond in measure.

But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
Luke 12:48

And, too, because it is time for judgment to visit the church in preparation for the greater work to come.

12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; 13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation. 14 If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. 15 Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler; 16 but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name. 17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 AND IF IT IS WITH DIFFICULTY THAT THE RIGHTEOUS IS SAVED, WHAT WILL BECOME OF THE GODLESS MAN AND THE SINNER? 19 Therefore, those also who suffer according to the will of God shall entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.
I Peter 4: 12-19

Brothers and sisters - please heed this warning - don't be caught unprepared as though it comes a surprise. If you've drifted away - get right with God now. I believe the time has come to put aside the distractions of life and focus upon what the Lord is doing. We, His people and our character are his concerns. Humble yourself and submit to His rule, His agenda, His schedule, His provision, His care. Don't be proud in your abilities or accomplishments, or in your country's or in that of your church denomination or congregation. Let's help each other, because time is short - and some of us will not survive what is coming.

17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil;
He who watches his way preserves his life.

And a haughty spirit before stumbling.
19 It is better to be humble in spirit with the lowly
Than to divide the spoil with the proud.
